It’s been just three days that YS Sharmila has floated her own political party in Telangana. Despite a lavish launch, the people and political observers have least expectations on Sharmila and her party. But we cannot underestimate YSRTP’s future.
By the end of this year, Sharmila is reportedly planning to go on a Paadayatra and if the Lotus Pond sources are true, we can see a few notable faces joining with Sharmila. For now, there are more strong leaders in TRS, BJP and Congress and we can’t expect the same in YSRTP within days after the launch.
But the irony is no big leader attended Sharmila’s party launch except for YSR’s fans. Nonetheless YSR’s followers and supporters are keeping a constant touch with Sharmila and she has their support.
And coming to the main point, to contest the 2023 Assembly elections, YSRTP needs strong and bankable politicians who can shell out money for the campaign and win the elections. Even before going to the polls, Sharmila needs to strengthen the party and need such leaders. What if there are no such leaders in YSRTP by then?
Well the last option could be the leaders who get denied by the three major parties in Telangana. But who are those leaders and how to identify them? Neither Sharmila nor her party can find them for now. They would come out of the shell just a year before the elections or having knowledge that they would not get a ticket at any cost.
After making all attempts to get a ticket and fail, these leaders will come out one after the other and if they feel Sharmila’s YSRTP might be their last option, they would take up the B-form from Sharmila.
The big disadvantage for YSRTP is, it’s a new party and it would be less influential in the polls. So no big leader would dare to join the party while the upset leaders who can be graded as Tier-2 from TRS, Congress and BJP will prefer YSRTP as just an alternative.
Nevertheless, Sharmila and YSRTP have two years of time for Assembly elections and we might see a lot of developments in this process.
