New UPI Rule: 0.4% MDR Above ₹2,000

UPI payment rules are set for a change from October 15, 2026, with a revised MDR framework for select merchant transactions. Consumers will continue using UPI for free, while transactions up to ₹2,000 remain unaffected. For higher value transactions, merchants may face a 0.4% MDR, or ₹0.40 per ₹100, capped at ₹300.
