IPL 2022: Dhoni Makes A Fifty After 2 Years

The vintage MS Dhoni is back. Though he retired from international cricket two years ago, Dhoni hasn’t lost his mojo and spark. The former captain of Chennai Super Kings has smashed a half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game of IPL 2022 tonight.

This is Dhoni’s comeback fifty after a gap of three years. His last half-century was against Royal Challengers Bangalore (84* off 48) in 2019. This is Dhoni’s first match as a non-captain of CSK and he scored a fifty in it.

CSK was in deep trouble in Dhoni came into the crease. The team score was 61-5 in 10.5 overs. Dhoni and captain Ravindra Jadeja had a huge responsibility on their shoulders.

They have started playing slowly and tried not to lose wickets. Especially, Dhoni was very slow in the beginning. He scored 7 off 17 balls at one stage. Towards the end of the innings, he shifted gears and smashed 43 off 21 balls.

Watching him smacking the ball hard all over the park reminded fans of the old days. With Dhoni’s incredible effort and Jadeja’s defensive innings, CSK managed to score a respective total of 131/5 by the end of 20 overs.

On the bowling front, Umesh Yadav shined for KKR by scalping the two crucial wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway.
