Bangladesh registered a thrilling win against India in the first ODI held at Dhaka tonight. Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s intense grit resulted in his team getting a victory by one wicket. Though Indian bowlers did their best, it was the batters who were disappointed by their performance. With this win, Bangladesh leads the series by 1-0.
While chasing a low total target of 187, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals. The pitch was slow and damp and it supported bowlers to get turn, swing and bounce. Litton Das (41), Anamul Haque (14) and Shakib Al Hasan (29) made good contributions. When it looked like Bangladesh will have an easy win, Indian bowlers turned the game by scalping wickets at regular intervals. From 128/5, the score came down to 136/9 in no time. That’s when Mehidy Hasan Miraz (38) made a 51 partnership with Mustafizur Rahman (10) and delivered a memorable victory for his team. With their help, Bangladesh made 187/9 in 46 overs. Siraj scalped three wickets (3/32) while Kuldeep Sen (2/37) and Washington Sundar (2/17) got two wickets each for India.
On the flip side, India was disastrous with the bat. Barring KL Rahul (73), no other batter was able to survive on this pitch. Shakib Al Hasan (5/36) bowled a brilliant spell and registered a fifer. Ebadot Hossain (4/47) has also impressed with his performance and scalped four wickets. Due to their brilliance, India got all-out for 186 in 41.2 overs. To win the series, India must win the remaining two games.
