There is a famous saying in the IPL, which goes like every other team will be in contention for the tournament only until Mumbai Indians hit elite form. Once Mumbai gets back to its elite best, then there is no stopping them, and they will ultimately go to win the title. This was five times in the past, when Mumbai was unstoppable in their title pursuit.
Incidentally, something of this sort is being observed again this year as Mumbai is proving to be the most consistent and feared team in the tournament.
After having one just a single game in the first four matches that they played, Mumbai has now won five games back-to-back, and also in the most comprehensive way possible.
They have registered their fifth consecutive win which came against Lucknow this afternoon, and they have gone from the bottom of the table to the second position.
The thing about Mumbai in top form is that they have absolutely every base covered, including batting and bowling. There is virtually no stopping this team once they are back in full flight. A similar trend is being observed now.
It can be said that all other teams will already be on high alert about this immaculate form that is being displayed by Mumbai. Stopping them at this point in time is going to be a really tough task for everyone.
Generally, Chennai Super Kings is regarded as one of the few teams that can put an end to Mumbai supremacy at least on a few occasions. But this time around, even Chennai is in pathetic form, and there is no worthy contender against Mumbai.
