IPL Table Toppers Losing, Bottom Teams Winning: What Next?

Over the last couple of days, two of the table topping (top 4) sides have lost to bottom dwellers in the IPL and this is projecting a very interesting trend. This originally started with the defeat of Gujarat Titans in the hand of Rajasthan Royals in a historic manner while 210 target was chased in under 16 overs.

This is again followed by the defeat of Delhi Capitals against Kolkata Knight Riders, who had been struggling big time this season.

This victory could not have come at a better time for Kolkata as they look down and out of the tournament, but have regained hopes after this big win against Delhi who had been performing well this year.

IPL has reached its business, and this is exactly when things start to get very tricky generally. The same trend is being projected again this year, as we are seeing top sites being beaten by lower ranked sides.

If Hyderabad can also somehow manage to defeat Gujarat Titans in their next game on May 2, then they will also enter the race for the play-offs, and this is when things will start to get really tense and close.

As of today, the top four sides in the IPL 2025 points table are Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gujarat, and Delhi. While it is nearly certain that Bengaluru and Mumbai might qualify the other two teams must hold their momentum if they are to continue their journey to the play-offs. The likes of Lucknow, Kolkata and Hyderabad will look to make this all the more tense.
