One of the all-time greatest white ball batsmen for India, Rohit Sharma is setting the ground for the 2027 50-over ODI World Cup but things are not looking very positive at this moment
After a superb performance in the earlier ODI series against Australia, Rohit was expected to be absolutely lethal with the bat in the series against New Zealand. But that did not turn out to be the case, as he was absolutely complacent with the bat.
Rohit played three ODIs against New Zealand in the series and managed to score just 61 runs in total. These are poor numbers for a senior player like Rohit Sharma, who must fight for his place in the team every time he steps onto the field.
There is no doubt in the capabilities or the skills of Rohit Sharma, but what must be essentially noted is that he is a senior player and needs to stand up for the team every single time.
This is exactly what Virat Kohli has been doing for the team with such great precision, and it is now the responsibility of Rohit through emulate the same.
Considering the aggressive playing style of Rohit Sharma is obviously a lot more likely to get out when compared to Kohli. But even then he must ensure a better batting average as there’s a lot of emphasis on him. A lethal combination of Rohit and Virat Kohli could do wonders to the Indian team, and the responsibility is now on Rohit to replicate this along with Virat who is already firing.
