T20 WC: Hardik Pandya Facing Heat For “Girlfriend”

Things are not going exactly as planned for India in the ongoing T20 World Cup as the men in blue faced a couple of challenging situations in the group games. And this was followed by a poor performance in the knockout stage against South Africa. 

Now that things are going South for India, virtually everything that the team is doing is being viewed with magnified scrutiny. This is applying in the case of Hardik Pandya, who has started to face the heat on social media. 

Incidentally, the BCCI had enforced a strict regulation which restricts the players from travelling with their family members during the ICC tournaments. No player is allowed to travel with their family members along with the rest of the squad. This is a decision taken to improve the professionalism and keep the entire focus of the players on the game. 

However, during the ongoing T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya had been doing something out of the box as his girlfriend, Maheika is seen along with him all the time. This has led to detrimental discussion on social media.

“Why can’t Hardik Pandya behave normal? He is acting like he is the last person on this planet who is having a girlfriend. Despite nonsense performance by him last night he is showing off by putting hands on her gf shoulder and keeping her with team.” A social media user commented. 

“Hardik Pandya has arrived in Chennai with his girlfriend. As per BCCI rule, families aren’t allowed with Indian players during tournaments.

Yet he’s been seen with her in Mumbai, Colombo, Ahmedabad & now Chennai. Different rules for different players?” Another person commented.

None of these negative comments could have affected if India has been performing well, and Hardik had been contributing. But with performance is going down, and Hardik himself struggling for form, these activities are leading to discussions.
