The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has commented about the much-debated third dose Covid vaccination drive in India. The IMA says it doesn’t recommend nor support the third dose Covid vaccination drive in India.
IMA national president JA Jayalal said the third dose should be administered to the general public only after the entire general population is fully vaccinated against Covid. Until then, the third dose Covid vaccination isn’t recommended.
The IMA says the Covid situation is under control in the country and no further mutations of the delta variant has not been detected till now.
However, the IMA doesn’t rule out the possibility of the onset of third wave of Covid.
A total of 90.6 crore Covid vaccines were administered in India till now and as many as 24.6 crore people have been fully vaccinated. However, just 17.9% of India’s total population has been fully vaccinated. There still really is a long way to go.
