Telangana’s Statue Of Equality, A New Pilgrim Spot

It is a moment of pride for Telangana as the state has become a centre for the teachings of Sri Ramanujacharya of social equality among the citizens after thousands of years. The Virat statue of Sri Ramanujacharya, who depicted equality, has been installed in Hyderabad. CM KCR praised Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and his followers for doing a remarkable job in installing the statue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad today to dedicate to the nation the ‘Statue of Equality’ commemorating the 11th-century Bhakti saint and also to kickstart the 50th-anniversary celebrations of ICRISAT. Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP M Mahendar Reddy took stock of the arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit. Massive security arrangements are made for Modi’s visit to Hyderabad in view of the recent security breach in Punjab.

— The state has been erected on the 40-acres sprawling premises of Chinna Jeeyar ashram.

— Talking about the details of the state, it is made up of five metals ‘Panchloha’ – Gold, Silver, Brass, Copper, and Zinc.

— This seated positioned state is the world’s second-tallest with 216ft height.

— The total budget has been around Rs.1000 crores.

— A 54 inch, 120 kg pure gold statue of Ramanuja has been installed one floor below, for daily rituals.

— The statue, installed at Muchintal, is “dedicated to the world” on February 5, to mark the 1,000 years since the birth of the Hindu reformist saint.

Ramanuja statue is encircled by the replicas of 108 sacred shrines across the country like Tirupati, Srirangam, Dwaraka, Badrinath and 108 steps take to the statue’ base. Swamy Chinna Jeeyar said that a yagam of 12 days – named Sri Lakshmi Narayana Maha yagna – would be conducted, using 1.5 lakh litres of ghee. “This yagna is to alleviate Covid-19 effect and also to free us from other viruses like hatred, inequality”.
