Biocon’s Chairperson Kiran Tests Corona Positive

Chairperson and MD of India’s renowned biotechnology company Kiran Mazumdar Shah and one of the country’s prominent woman entrepreneurs has been tested positive for Corona Virus.

67-year-old Kiran Mazumdar Shah, who is a billionaire entrepreneur, herself divulged the news. She said she developed mild symptoms and got herself tested and the test result was positive. Kiran wrote, “I have added to the Covid count by testing positive. Mild symptoms n I hope it stays that way.”

Kiran Mazumdar Shah is the recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award accorded by the Indian government. Her contribution in the field of biotechnology is outstanding as many of the country’s youth took up biotechnology courses inspired by Kiran.

She on many occasions said that more R&D is needed in the field of biotechnology and the field has a lot of scope. Kiran’s estimated net worth is Rs 390 crore and she is the resident of Bangalore where her company’s headquarters is located.

In July, Kiran had said India needs to prepare an immunisation strategy on the administration of Covid vaccine when it comes out. “Vaccine is anybody’s guess. Right from the end of this year to the middle of next year is the prediction,” Kiran had said in July.
