Many places in the US don’t seem to be safe with mass shootings reported every now and then. Apart from the gun culture and violent people, there are other reasons why some cities are the safest and some are dangerous to live in. MoneyGeek’s annual analysis according to the recent crime statistics from the FBI estimates the cost of crime in 263 cities with populations greater than 100,000 across the United States.

The analysis comes up with the crime statistics and also the societal costs of different types of crimes to estimate the cost of crime for each city. The analysis list down the top 15 safest cities in the US and also mentions the most dangerous cities.

The cost of crime per capita in US cities was $1836 in 2021 which is up 6% since 2020.

Naperville, Illinois is the safest city overall with $156 per capita, and St. Louis, Missouri, is the most dangerous city, with $8457 per capita crime.
