Daikin Starts Production In AP!

Daikin Air-conditioning India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Japan, has officially inaugurated its new greenfield unit in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The sprawling 75.5-acre facility is dedicated to the development of climate-friendly air conditioning solutions for various markets, including West Africa, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, the Middle East, South America, and East Africa. The plant is expected to generate employment for 3,000 people.

Kanwaljeet Jawa, Chairman & Managing Director of Daikin India, expressed that the new manufacturing plant in Sri City enhances their production capabilities and strengthens their position as a leading provider of energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions in the region. Masanori Togawa, President & CEO of Daikin Industries, highlighted that Daikin, with 100 production units globally and a customer base in 170 countries, is expanding its manufacturing presence in India.

This facility is part of Daikin’s substantial investments in India, totaling Rs 2,800 crores. It aims to address the growing demand for air conditioning products in both the Indian and international markets, focusing on environmentally friendly solutions. The plant has the capacity to manufacture 1.5 million room air conditioners and 3 million compressors annually. This marks Daikin’s third unit in India and underscores its commitment to the production-linked incentive (PLI) program for air conditioners in the country.
