After the Congress government took over in Telangana, the Food Safety Department has been functioning actively and initiating severe actions against those violating rules and regulations.
In the latest development, the government of Telangana decided to impose a ban on the preparation of mayonnaise using raw eggs. The Commissioner of Food Safety made a statement regarding this decision.
The Food Safety Commissioner has banned the preparation of mayonnaise using raw eggs for one year, effective immediately from October 30.
This decision has been taken in the interest of public health; the production, storage, and sale of mayonnaise prepared from raw eggs is prohibited.
“As per observations during enforcement activities and complaints received from the public, mayonnaise made from raw eggs is suspected to be a cause of food poisoning in multiple incidents over the past few months,” the order stated.
Recently, a woman named Reshma Begum lost her life after consuming momos from a street vendor in Banjara Hills. This incident prompted the police to launch a thorough investigation, which ultimately led to the ban on the preparation of mayonnaise.
