The Chinese AI Company’s ‘DeepSeek’ rattled the US stock market yesterday affecting the Nasdaq including the chip giant Nvidia along with many tech company stocks. DeepSeek AI claims that its AI assistant used cheaper chips and less data than leading models while its performance is better than those.
US President Donald Trump addressed the market collapse due to Chinese AI DeepSeek and said it is a ‘wake-up call’ for US tech companies.
‘The release of DeepSeek AI from a Chinese company should be a wake-up call for our industries that we need to be laser-focused on competing’, Trump said.
The US President said he considers the low-cost model to be very much a ‘positive development’ for AI overall. ‘Instead of spending billions and billions, you’ll spend less, and you’ll come up with, hopefully, the same solution.’
