Veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who had produced remarkable bowling performances for India several times in the past went unsold in the International League T20 auction.
In the auction that was held recently, Ashwin set himself a base price of one $120,000. However, not even a single team showed interest in buying him at this price. Subsequently, he went unsold in the auction, which was unexpected.
After this fiasco, Ashwin did something interesting as he has joined the Australian Big Bash league.
According to the latest development, Ashwin has agreed to join BBL side Sydney, thunder, and an official announcement to this effect has been made a few minutes back.
About not getting selected in the auction, Ashwin said “I was about to pull out a few days before the auction because of the Thunder deal, but since I had already committed to the ILT20 that I would enter the auction, I honoured my word.”
“That’s the price I wanted as a bare minimum, and I’m happy not to play at this stage of my career if my value isn’t met,” he concluded. Considering the experience of Ashwin, it was expected that he would be picked by some side but it simply wasn’t the case.
