Tesla is the biggest car manufacturer in the United States and it also holds the record for being the biggest EV car company in the world. The distinctive self drive feature is what made Tesla a massive success globally and made them a big deal in the automotive industry.
However, Tesla could not open the India market as the company is registering agonisingly poor sales in the country, despite being in operation for several months.
Earlier, Tesla had received nearly 600 advance bookings in India after the launch of their model Y car. However, only 227 of these advance bookings materialised into actual sales. Adding to that, the inventory of Tesla of around 300 cars are still lying in their factories with only 100 cars being sold in 2025.
Consequently, this United States based EV car manufacturer has announced a massive discount of ₹2 lakh on their model Y car sales in India. This offer comes to effect immediately and the company hopes to see a bit more movement due to the same.
With an ex-showroom price ranging from 58 to 73 lakh, Tesla model Y is one of the costliest electric cars in the country and simply doesn’t fit into the budget constraints of the Indian market. And now we have to see if this new discount announced by Tesla would increase the sales domestically.
