Trump H1B Crackdown: Google Big Plans in Bengaluru!

United States President Donald Trump has taken a strong stand on immigration policies. His administration is largely restricting the H1B visa program and limiting international immigration.

In this context, several leading American companies are looking at the Asian market to expand their workforce. It is now reported that Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is also expanding its presence in India.

Alphabet Inc., the company that owns Google, is preparing for a major expansion in India by securing office space that could eventually accommodate tens of thousands of additional workers in the country’s tech hub.

The Silicon Valley company has signed a lease for one office building and secured options for two more at Alembic City, a business development in Bengaluru’s Whitefield tech corridor, Bloomberg reported earlier today.

The three buildings together add up to 2.4 million square feet of workspace. The first building is expected to begin operations in the next few months, with the other two scheduled for completion in 2026.

If the company takes up all three towers, the campus could accommodate up to 20,000 additional employees, potentially more than doubling Alphabet’s current workforce in India.

Considering the high H1B visa fees and the restrictions imposed by the Trump administration, Alphabet and other leading companies may look to expand operations in India. We could witness more such developments in the near future.
