If the latest reports in Hollywood media are to be believed, renowned global pop star Britney Spears was arrested on Wednesday night later released from jail allegedly for driving under the influence of alcohol in southern California. Though the charge is unclear yet, she is due to make a court appearance on May 4 at the Ventura County Superior Court.
As per several news reports, authorities arrested Spears around 9:30 pm in California as she was found drunk driving on preliminary tests. Officers from the California Highway Patrol reportedly stopped Spears as part of regular patrol check and and arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), which is a serious offence as per US law.
Surprisingly, Spears deleted her Instagram profile after her release from jail. Her most recent post was captioned: “Song representing fragility be careful my friends when dealing with the queen of hearts.” The reasons for her decision are not yet known and none of her team members spoke about the arrest so far.
This is not the first time that Spears had been in a legal entangle. In 2007, she faced four misdemeanor charges after an alleged hit-and-run with a parked car in Los Angeles. The charges were dropped after Spears paid the vehicle’s owner for damages.
Recently, she sold her rights to her music catalogue in a massive $200m deal. The sale to independent music publisher Primary Wave came after the singer’s 13-year conservatorship, which was ruled in her favour by the court. Since her release from the conservatorship, Spears has made few public appearances but regularly posted videos on social media.
