Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw painted an ambitious picture of India’s future transport network while addressing an industry interaction at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre on Saturday. His speech focused on technology, innovation and next generation infrastructure.
Highlighting the proposed high speed rail network, Vaishnaw said Hyderabad to Amaravati could be covered in just 70 minutes. He also projected a three hour travel time between Hyderabad and Chennai.
Adding a lighter touch, the Union Minister said passengers could begin their journey from Hyderabad enjoying avakaya, have a tasty saapad in Chennai and still return home the same night to have dinner with their family.
He further revealed that Hyderabad to Pune could take just 2 hours. Travel to Bengaluru is expected to take 2 hours and 35 minutes, while Mumbai could be reached in just 2 hours and 50 minutes.
Vaishnaw said such connectivity would transform the way people travel for work and business. Faster transportation would also strengthen economic growth and improve regional connectivity.
The interaction at HICC brought together industry leaders, academic experts and government representatives. Discussions revolved around innovation, advanced manufacturing, research and creating more opportunities for young professionals.
The Railway Minister said India is making rapid progress in emerging technologies, railway modernisation and manufacturing. He expressed confidence that these initiatives would play a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.
