Apple Fresh Layoffs: Second Round Job Cuts in Two Months

Tech giant and iPhone maker Apple has started fresh layoffs. In what could be the second round of job cuts in two months, the fresh layoffs have been reportedly in the audio-content team of its Fitness+ division. This was reported by the leading financial media house Bloomberg.

As per the report, Apple announced layoffs last week in the Fitness+ division with its team working on features such as Time to Walk and Time to Run, along with guided audio workouts for Apple Watch users. The audio workouts allow users to exercise while following instructions without watching a video.

The number of employees affected by the latest Fitness+ layoffs is not known. Apple has also not issued an official statement on the latest job cuts.

However, the latest layoffs do not mean Apple is planning to discontinue Fitness+. The Bloomberg report said the company may reduce the frequency of new audio content because the team has been reduced.

The latest cuts come after a larger round of layoffs in August, when Apple reportedly eliminated more than 200 jobs across different teams. Around 100 jobs were reportedly cut from the Vision Pro organisation, while another roughly 100 positions were eliminated across Siri and other software teams.

Apple said it was restructuring some teams as it changes the way it operates and develops new user experiences. The company also plans to create new positions as part of the restructuring, although a limited number of existing jobs will be eliminated.

The latest changes also come as Apple explores a more unified health and fitness experience across its services. Overall, the changes indicate that Apple is reorganising some teams while adjusting its focus on health, fitness, AI and new user experiences.
