Niranjani Akhada Ends Kumbh After Its Head Dies Of Covid

Panchayati Niranjani Akhada announced the Kumbh concludes on April 17. Panchayati Niranjani Akhada is the second largest among 13 akhadas that participate in the mega gathering.

The Niranjani Akhada’s head Mahamandaleshwar Kapil Dev Das died due to Covid-19. The 65-year-old tested positive for Covid-19 and died at a private hospital in Haridwar on April 13.

Ravindra Puri, the secretary of Niranjani Akhada announced on Thursday that the main Shahi Snan held on the occasion of Mesh Sankranti on April 14 is over and many in the akhada are showing Covid-19 symptoms. He further said the Kumbh Mela is over for them.

About the next shahi snan on April 27, the Niranjanai Akhada secretary said the decision will be with Akhada Parishad. few sadhus will participate in the fourth shahi snan from Niranjani Akhada.

Reports ad it that more than 68 top seers including President of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad Narendra Giri have tested positive for Covid. 30 Sadhus have tested positive so far and more than 2170 people have tested positive for Covid in Haridwar.

The Kumbh Mela in Haridwar is usually held for fourth months but it was cut short to one month (April 1-30) due to Covid conditions.
