The Union home ministry has lifted the ban on entry of Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) card holders in the country but the terms and conditions apply. Earlier on 18 March, the Centre had imposed restrictions on Overseas Citizen of India cardholders amid the outbreak of Corona virus.
OCI card holders with subject to family emergencies such as deaths or others will be given high priority said the home ministry’s fresh orders.
Also couples where one spouse is an OCI cardholder and the others is an Indian national and they have a permanent residence in India, Minor children holding born to Indian nationals abroad and holding OCI cards and University students who are OCI cardholders and whose parents are Indian Citizens living in India are also allowed to travel to India.
Post the outbreak of Corona virus, about two Lakh Indians are said to have approached the ministry of external affairs for the permit to travel to India. But the Home and external affairs ministries are taking a call based on the importance.
