Covid-19: 3.80 Lakh Cases, 3645 Deaths In 24 Hrs

In an yet another all-time high single-day infections in the world, India reported nearly 3.80 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases and 3645 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours.

As per the data showed by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday morning, the country recorded 3,79,257 fresh cases and thus it took the overall Covid caseload to 1,83,76,524. Wednesday recorded 3645 Covid-related fatalities and thus the total death toll reached 2,04,832.

The active Covid cases in the country stood at 30,84,814 that accounts for 16.79 percent of the total infections in the country so far. The Covid recovery rate has dropped to 82.10 per cent which is a cause of worry.

The highest spike in daily cases is reported in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi and Maharashtra. Delhi reported 25,986 fresh Covid cases and 368 deaths. The positivity rate of infection in Delhi is 31.76 per cent. It is the seventh consecutive day that Delhi has recorded over 300 deaths due to Covid.

Maharashtra reported 63,309 new cases and 985 deaths. The total caseload in the state reached 44,73,394 and the death toll stands at 67,214. Mumbai alone accounted for 4926 new cases and 78 deaths thus raising its tally to 6,40,409 and death toll to 12,954.

Surpassing its previous single-day high of 34,804, Karnataka on Wednesday recorded 39,047 Covid cases and 229 deaths. The total caseload in Karnataka touched 14.39 lakh while the death toll is 15,036.

Uttar Pradesh recorded 29,824 new cases and 266 deaths in the last 24 hours. The covid tally in the state raised to 11,82,848 and the total fatality count is at 11,943.
