Taiwan Hit By Strongest Earthquake In 25 Years, 7 Dead, 730 Injured

Taiwan was hit by the strongest earthquake in the last 25 years. The earthquake’s magnitude was recorded at 7.4.

Seven people were killed and more than 730 were injured in Wednesday’s earthquake in Taiwan.

The earthquake damaged dozens of buildings and warnings were issued that there could be more tremors coming. The tsunami warnings were issued and it could affect Japan and the Philippines.

According to Wu Chei-fu, director of Taipei’s Central Weather Administration’s Seismology Center, the earthquake is close to land and it’s shallow.

We said the earthquake was the strongest since 1999’s 7.6 magnitude, which killed around 2,400 people.

Taiwan is regularly hit by earthquakes as the island is near the junction of two tectonic plates.

Japan’s biggest earthquake was recorded at a 9.0-magnitude undersea jolt in March 2011 that triggered a tsunami leaving more than 18,500 people dead or missing.
