The government of Andhra Pradesh didn’t stop scrutinizing the film industry. It has now decided to sell movie tickets through a government-backed online portal. The responsibilities of this online portal have been handed over to the Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation.
With this decision, no private website is allowed to sell movie tickets in Andhra Pradesh. Just like the IRCTC, there will be a single government online portal that allows users to book movie tickets.
A few changes have been made in the GO 142, regarding this decision. This government-backed online movie booking portal is expected to start rolling soon.
The government revealed this plan a few months ago and has finally decided to implement it now.
Earlier, cinematography minister Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani) stated that the government has come up with this plan at the behest of the industry.
Andhra Pradesh has now become the first state in the country to implement this system. The government is expecting that this move will ensure the movies are being played at prescribed timings and tickets are sold at the prescribed rates with utmost transparency.
