Akhil’s action thriller Agent is all set for a release this coming Friday and the US premieres will be on Thursday. The actor pinned a lot of hopes on the movie and he is coming to cinemas after a big gap. His last film Most Eligible Bachelor was a decent hit. Now, the Agent is not coming alone but he has company in the form of Mani Ratnam’s Magnum Opus Ponniyin Selvan 2, which was made from real incidents in history.
Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 is hitting the screens on the same day as Akhil’s Agent. The common opinion among the trade analysts and the audience is that Akhil need not be worried about PS 2, because of its little to no buzz in Telugu. So Akhil will have the wind flown towards his movie for being the straight Telugu movie and the aggressive promotions where PS 2 is lagging much behind.
While the Agent need not be worried about PS 2, last week’s Virupaksha still remains a threat for him. Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha opened big and the positive talk is helping the movie become stronger each day. Virupaksha is going great guns and should hold well in its second weekend as well.
If Akhil’s Agent manages to get a decent talk, it could survive and co-exist with Virupaksha through the weekend. So the Agent has the threat from horror more than history.
