Director Nelson Dilipkumar, known for the much-anticipated Tamil action thriller “Beast” starring Vijay, has candidly discussed the reasons behind the film’s underwhelming performance at the box office. The film garnered mixed reviews from both critics and audiences, ultimately falling short of the high expectations set by Vijay’s fans.
In a recent interview, Nelson shed light on the numerous challenges he faced while making “Beast,” which contributed to the film’s outcome not aligning with his initial vision. He admitted that he had miscalculated the time needed for the film’s production, making certain aspects of his storytelling not fully realized.
Nelson emphasized, “If I had six to seven months of time, I would have done an extra detail to narrate the story correctly, and the film would not have received mixed reviews.”
Nelson humbly acknowledged his misjudgment of the timeline for completing the film and acknowledged the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to the shooting schedule, resulting in incomplete scenes. He expressed remorse for not having time to fine-tune and rectify these aspects.
The director also expressed his regret for not meeting Vijay’s expectations, as the actor had entrusted him with the film. He commended Vijay for his unwavering support and cooperation throughout the filmmaking process and praised his outstanding performance.
Nelson is currently enjoying the success of Jailer, starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role.
