Manchu Mohan Babu received temporary relief from the Supreme Court in the attempt to murder case. The Supreme Court directed that no action be taken against him until the next hearing. The Telangana High Court dismissed Mohan Babu’s anticipatory bail petition on the 23rd of last month, so he quickly approached the Supreme Court.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Mohan Babu, argued that the incident occurred during a confrontation involving his son. He stated that Mohan Babu had publicly apologized for the attack on the journalist. Mohan Babu is also willing to pay compensation and clarified that the journalists had allegedly entered the house without permission.
In response, the Supreme Court bench questioned whether an attack on the journalist was justified solely on the grounds of trespass.
Lawyers representing the journalist argued that the assault caused physical and professional harm. They informed the court that the journalist had been hospitalized for five days, undergone surgery, and was forced to eat through a tube for a month.
The Supreme Court bench deliberated whether the resolution should involve compensation or imprisonment for Mohan Babu and directed the respondents to provide counter-affidavits.
