Film buffs knew how Vijay Deverakonda’s Taxiwala fared at the Telugu box office. But prior to its release, Vijay had a panic attack when producer Allu Aravind called him saying, “we’re gonna shelve the project” and “your future is at stake”.
Sharing some bitter memories of the past during a podcast interview recently, Vijay said the cast of Taxiwala had an amazing time having fun on the sets for the way it was shot, but before it hit theatres Vijay had a nightmare of sorts.
Had to rush to Hyderabad from a shoot in Chennai at Allu Aravind’s request when the whole team wanted to shelve the project forever due to its shabby music. That was the moment Vijay’s heart skipped a beat as he went on to convince the makers to give it another try. VD explained how the makers developed vehement dislike towards the final output. The laughs, punches nor the suspense could work. The whole bunch of scenes were awkward with the regular Telugu humour template and sound effects. Everyone was looking like idiots. This was not what we expected the film to be,” Vijay said wryly, “We shot it keeping in mind the futuristic horror genre.”
That was when Vijay convinced Aravind to fix the music first, subsequently roping in director Jakes Bejoy in Chennai who infused life into the film and eventually Taxiwala could see light of the day.
Vijay Deverakonda said he was worried when he was told that his career was at stake. A relatively new face with just three films in Tollywood, VD was worried about the collective decision on killing a film which he believed was a potentially great story at the box office.
