The Indian box office is struggling to find the right amount of success this year. So far, the industry has seen a high number of movies at the box office, but the success rate has been relatively low. With six months already completed, the hope is bleak of generating huge revenues for the rest of the year. So far, the first half of 2025 has registered growth of around Rs. 5,723 crores at the box office.
Surprisingly, no film has recorded a revenue of 1000 Cr rupees at the box office, but most mid- to high-range movies have ensured huge revenues. The report on the same has been published by Ormax Media. According to it, only 17 movies registered a collection of over ₹ 100 crore. The foot falls have been constant across languages, but nothing major has turned the tables around this time.
Among the biggest grossers in the first half of 2025, one film that stands out is Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. The film earned a revenue of over 693 Cr rupees at the domestic box office. On the other hand, the second place in terms of huge revenues goes to Sankranthiki Vastunnam, which is a runaway hit at the beginning of this year.
The other successful films are Raid 2, with a revenue of 198 Cr rupees, Good Bad Ugly, with a revenue of 182 Cr rupees, Game Changer with a revenue of 153 Cr rupees, Thudarum, with a revenue of 144 Cr rupees, Sky Force, with a revenue of 131 Cr rupees, L2E Empuraan, with a revenue of 127 Cr rupees, and Dragon, with a revenue of 125 Cr rupees.
Last month, Sitaare Zameen Par and Housefull 5 emerged as the top earners at the box office. Kuberaa, and F1 also performed well at the box office.
Now, for the rest of the year, the big hopes are on films like Kantara: Chapter 1, War 2, Kingdom, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, OG, Coolie, Akhanda 2, Thama and a few other Bollywood films.
