Rajamouli Taking Varanasi’s Budget Beyond ₹1000 Crore?

SS Rajamouli is the humdinger of Indian cinema. His vision transcends imagination and his craft surpasses expectations. The title glimpse of his upcoming film Varanasi, which was unveiled a couple of days ago, has once again proved why is second to none when it comes to bringing larger-than-life scripts in a grand manner.

Known for mounting his films on a grand scale budget, the Baahubali and RRR director seems to be outperforming his own standards with Varanasi in terms of budget and technical values. As per inside sources, the Mahesh Babu starrer is going to be made on a staggering budget of 1300 Crores and it excludes the publicity costs for promoting the film. This is by far the highest budgeted film in Rajamouli’s career because it will be bigger than Baahubali 2 and RRR.

When the much anticipated project was announced, there were reports that Rajamouli is going to spend more than 1000 Crores for SSMB29 as he wants to make it as a global film to tap into the wide international markets which were not explored by Indian films earlier. But, the budget appears to be mounting as shooting formalities progress.

Now, it is heard that the budget has shot past 1300 Crores, making Varanasi one of the costliest films ever made in Indian cinema. Other films like AA6 and Ramayana are reportedly being made with a huge budget than Varanasi.

Major chunk of the film’s budget goes for remunerations to Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The story demands long shooting schedules in extensive locales around the globe and needs massive budget to deliver a quality output. Rajamouli, however, follows strict budget control tactics and makes sure that his producers are not in financial trouble.

Varanasi will have staggering VFX effects and Rajamouli is shooting with cutting edge technology to give a mesmerizing theatrical experience for moviegoers. Also, renowned technicians are working for this film. So, the budget is likely to be quite humongous and bigger than his previous outings.

The first promotional event alone cost more than 20 Crores. No wonder if the total budget of the movie goes past 1300 Crores by the time it completes shoot.
