In this day and era of work from home culture, it has become increasingly common for the employees to work at a leisurely pace. But companies are now looking to crack down on the same as they could be monitoring the working hours.
In this context, the latest updates are suggesting that Cognizant could soon roll out a feature called ProHance that would track the working time of the employees.
Cognizant’s rollout of ProHance monitoring on select projects tracks laptop login times, active apps, website usage, and idle periods after 5 minutes. The company apparently feels this is to boost productivity through data-driven insights, as reported by Moneycontrol and India Today.
It is a workforce analytics tool, provides dashboards for minute-by-minute activity mapping, including breaks and task durations. However, this has sparked privacy concerns amid India’s IT sector’s history of high-pressure environments and recent layoffs at firms like Cognizant.
It has to be seen if cognizant would go ahead with this decision, despite the negative feedback about privacy concerns. But if they really do, then we can expect more companies to go down this way in the future.
