Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly awaited sequel ‘Akhanda 2’, a Boyapati Srinu directional, has been postponed indefinitely just few hours before its release due to some financial hurdles. This has come as a big blow for trade circles because Akhanda 2 is carrying tremendous buzz in audience due to the hype on the Balayya-Boyapati combination.
Now that Akhanda 2 is postponed and are no other prominent releases this week, Ram’s Andhra King Taluka, which hit the screens last week and secured decent reports, gets another chance to fill the box office vaccum. The film despite getting good reviews and so-so word of mouth performed only moderately at the box office in the first week. Even the team also acknowledged that the positive talk did not reflect in the collections.
As Akhanda 2 is expected to dominate all mass territories with a huge release, trade analysts predicted that Andhra King Taluka might end its theatrical run on a below-par note. However, the last minute postponement has come as an unexpected advantage for Andhra King Taluka. The film will now have an extended solo run this weekend in all areas.
The only worrying factor is that Andhra King Taluka has lost the momentum after the first weekend as moviegoers are eagerly waiting for Akhanda 2 and upcoming Sankranti movies. The question now is whether the film sees a turn around and have a surge in the collections during this weekend ? It will be known in the next couple of days.
Directed by P. Mahesh Babu, Andhra King Taluka is a fanboy’s tribute to his cinema demigod. Ram’s chemistry with Bhagyashri Borse and Upendra’s commendable performance received a big thumbs up from moviegoers and critics alike.
