Drushyam 3 – Venky’s Hands Tied?

It really needs to be said that Drishyam is one of the iconic Malayalam films of the last decade as it completely reinvented the family thriller genre. This franchise had two films till now, and the third one is preparing for release in Malayalam this summer. 

Director Jeetu Joseph and Hero Mohanlal are looking to script history with the third and final part of this intense family oriented thriller franchise. But on the other hand, the Telugu remake is in serious question now due to the scheduling of Venkatesh Daggubati.

After the tremendous success in Malayalam, this thriller duology was remade in Telugu with Venkatesh and both films generated a very good word of mouth. Accordingly, Venkatesh and producer Suresh Babu are very appreciative of this thriller drama world. 

But the problem here is that the Malayalam version of the third part is preparing for theatrical release and could be arriving on OTT subsequently. This will leave the Telugu remake with very little time to be imitated and executed. 

Venkatesh is currently busy with Adarsha Kutumbam under Trivikram’s direction, preparing it for a post-summer release. Simultaneously or immediately after, he will begin his much-anticipated collaboration with Anil Ravipudi.

It is evident that Venkatesh does not have any free time to shoot for Drushyam 3 in Telugu. And another time specific issue here is that once the Malayalam version released, the twists and story will be revealed, leaving no wow factor for Telugu audience when the Telugu remake is done. 

But at the same time Venkatesh simply cannot leave the third part, as this where the story and the whole franchise is rounded off and a brilliant emotional experience is displayed. So with so many complications, we have to see when the third part would actually materialise in Telugu.
