The much-talked-about reunion film of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth is already creating massive buzz, and the latest update has added to the excitement. According to reports, the film, tentatively referred to as KHxRK, is set to be shot using traditional film cameras instead of modern digital equipment.
This means the makers are planning to adopt the classic filmmaking style of the 80s and 90s, when movies were shot entirely on film reels. The move is being seen as a tribute to old-school cinema and is expected to bring a rich, nostalgic visual texture to the project.
Director Nelson Dilipkumar and cinematographer Rajiv Menon reportedly even attempted to shoot the promo using film cameras. However, due to time constraints, they had to opt for the digital format for the promotional video.
If executed as planned, this reunion could mark a grand return to vintage filmmaking in modern Tamil cinema. These are exciting times in Indian cinema, and one needs to see if they are really feasible in today’s times or not, as the edit process will take a lot of time, and there are other issues as well related to filmmaking. One needs to see how all this pans out in the days to come.
