It wasn’t long before there were international media reports about Prime Minister Modi, ignoring the phone conversations with US President Donald Trump. But the two of them had a telephonic interaction last night on the occasion of Modi’s birthday and this is followed by a generic statement from Trump today.
After having spoken with Modi earlier president, Trump stated that he shares a very good relationship with India and its Prime Minister.
“I’m very close to India. I’m very close to the Prime Minister of India. Spoke to him the other day, wished him a happy birthday. We have a very good relationship” Trump said.
Trump went on to indirectly explained his actions regarding imposition of tariffs against India by saying this is the only way to regulate oil prices and subdue Russia.
Then came the repetitive statement from Trump as he claimed credit for stopping the India and Pakistan war for the nth time. “India and Pakistan are two nuclear countries and I had to settle the dispute. If you want to trade with us, you have to get along, I said to them and that’s how I got it done.” Trump concluded.
