Ex BRS leader and Telangana Jagruti president Kavitha has once again stirred controversy with her remarks on the statues of Andhra leaders at Hyderabad’s Tank Bund.
Kavitha spoke about the long standing issue of statues at Tank Bund. She clarified that she was not directly demanding the removal of Andhra leaders’ statues. However, she added that when the time comes, such a decision could be taken.
Kavitha said Tank Bund should primarily have statues of Telangana movement leaders and prominent personalities from Telangana. According to her, the space should reflect the identity and history of the Telangana region.
Kavitha’s comments on the Tank Bund statues have drawn criticism from many quarters. Several social media users accused her of political gameplay. They expressed concern that such statements could damage the friendly relations between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Some netizens argued that instead of removing existing statues, leaders from Telangana could also be added. They pointed out that statues standing for decades should not become tools for political provocation. Many stressed that mutual respect and coexistence were better solutions than reigniting old regional sentiments.
