Privatisation Row: AP Shutdown Turns Successful

The shutdown in AP called against the privatisation of Vizag steel plant has turned successful. The ruling YSRCP has extended it’s last minute support to shut down on Thursday evening but by then the oppositions have made an aggressive campaign against the ‘Bandh.’

All the government offices and mainly the transport observed the shutdown. The APSRTC buses were confined to the bus depots and so major highways sported a deserted look.

However, a few unwanted incidents took place. In Guntur, the Congress and Left parties staged a rally but the police resisted and detained a few karyakarthas.

In Vizag, local MP MVV Satyanarayana, UttarAndhra YCP Vijayasai Reddy and minister Avanthi Srinivas took part in a human chain formation. In the beach city the shutdown went successful with schools, colleges and other commercial activities closing their doors.

Surprisingly BJP and Jana Sena Parties did not take part in this shutdown.
