Reports: KL Rahul To Lead Team India In The Upcoming NZ Series

Team India has put up a forgettable performance so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup. By losing two matches in a row, India almost ruined its chances of qualifying to the semifinals.

Many experts opined that the busy schedule and the bio-bubble fatigue have affected Team India’s performance in the league stage. As a result, it is now being heard that the senior players will be rested and KL Rahul will lead the team in the upcoming series against New Zealand.

The selectors will soon meet to announce the team for this series and also appoint the new captain of the T20I side. In the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Rahul will most likely lead the side. It is also heard that Rohit Sharma will later become the permanent captain of the T20I side.

“The seniors would need a breather and it is no secret that Rahul is an integral part of the team’s T20 structure. He is almost certain to lead,” said a source to the ANI.

New Zealand will play three T20Is and two Test matches against India in this tour. The T20Is will be held on November 17 (Jaipur), November 19 (Ranchi), and November 21 (Kolkata). The Tests will be played in Kanpur (November 25-29) and Mumbai (December 3-7).

Apparently, the crowd will also be allowed for these matches, but in limited numbers.
