No one can deny the fact that Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest captains in the history of IPL. He won the IPL trophy record equivalent five times with Mumbai Indians. However, his legacy was abruptly ended when he got replaced by Hardik Pandya has the captain last year.
While this captaincy decision was largely contradicted by fans who faulted the team management, it is still continuing to lead to discussion even today.
The same happened when Nita Ambani was stepping outside a temple recently when a fan approached her and respectfully asked her to make Rohit Sharma the captain of Mumbai again.
Nita is seen acknowledging this request and giving some reply to the fan. Notably, this is in tune with the social media campaign as well. Mumbai fans on social media are requesting to bring back Rohit as the captain.
This narrative is being strengthened by what is happening on the field as well. Even in last night’s game, it was Rohit Sharma who reportedly suggested the bowling change and bring Karan Sharma who went on to get the wickets of KL Rahul and Vipraj.
Rohit Sharma is the obvious fan favourite and also the experienced choice for the captaincy position. He is the rightful leader of this Mumbai Indians franchise as their legacy was built on his captaincy period. However, the decision to shift to Hardik Pandya has happened, and it would be excruciatingly tough to bring back Rohit as the captain. It has to be seen if Nita Ambani, the owner of the franchise will take this big call.
