T20 WC: Who’s The Real Favourite Now?

The ongoing T20 World Cup is currently underway with India and Sri Lanka operating as the bilateral hosts. Going by the early projections, it is evident that a couple of teams are struggling to get going in the tournament.

Two teams in discussion are Australia and England as both of them started the tournament as title favourites, but have already lost a game each in the group stage itself.

On the other hand, we have India, New Zealand, and South Africa, which have been very successful at the start of the tournament as they have all won a couple of games each.

South Africa faced a close contest against Afghanistan, but they could emerge victorious and kept up their strike rate. New Zealand has been absolutely on top of their game.

India is anyway one of the favourites to win the title this year and beating this team is going to be a big task for anyone.

As things it needs to be said that India, New Zealand and South Africa are the teams that can be considered as the favourites for the title. But at the same time, Sri Lanka and West Indies have also maintained hundred percent strike rate in the opening two games.

Finally, it was good to see so many teams in competitive spirit in the tournament this year as even small teams like Nepal, Netherlands and Zimbabwe have been very competitive.
