Chennai Super Kings historically had the most successful captain in the history of the league in the form of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. So anyone who progresses from Dhoni and picks up this captaincy position is going to face a lot of challenges in living up to the expectations.
This is precisely where the current captain of the team Ruturaj Gaikwad has been struggling very badly, not just in terms of his batting, but also at the captaincy level.
Ruturaj has been in very poor form this IPL as his strike rate is a major concerned to the team. While other players are scoring in excess of 180 or 200 run rate, Ruturaj has been using up for too many balls in the power play, which is pushing the team into further trouble.
