Ukraine Wishes To See Modi As The Mediator

Once again, Ukraine exhorted India yesterday asking to use its influence with Russia to put an end to the war. It’s been two months since the war between Russia and Ukraine started and several lives have been lost. Yesterday, Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba told Indian media that he wishes to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi being the mediator between Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelinsky and President Putin.

“If Prime Minister Modi is willing to play that role, we will welcome his efforts,” he said, adding that Ukraine has always been a reliable consumer of Indian products. He further added, “We always have been one of the guarantors of Indian food security. We always supplied you with sunflower oil, grains and other products. This is an unusually beneficial relationship”.

The foreign minister requested India to take advantage of the level of relationship and convince President Putin to stop the war. “The only man making decisions in Russia is President Putin. So you need to speak with him directly on how to end this war,” he added. In fact, he stated that Putin is the only person on the planet who wants this war.

The Minister further elaborated on the unfortunate position of Ukraine and the endurance of Russian aggression. “I hope India will support Ukraine,” he said. He further expressed his condolences for the death of the Indian student during the Russian bombing in Kharkiv. “Until Russia arrived with its tanks and planes, Ukraine has been a home for Indians. We want students to come back,” he added.
