These days, Bollywood movies are facing the “Ban” heat. After the likes of Laal Singh Chaddha and Brahmastra, the latest film to join the list is Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. ‘Besharam Rang’ song from this movie now stirred controversy.
Recently, this song was released. The film’s lead actress Deepika Padukone sports a bikini and was seen in a sensuous avatar in the song. This didn’t go well with many of the right-wing supporters.
Things got heated up when Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra called the costumes and visuals of the song “objectionable”. He alleged that the saffron costumes of Deepika are hurting the sentiments of the Hindu religion.
Meanwhile, the activists of Veer Shivaji Group gathered at a road intersection in Indore and set Deepika and Shah Rukh’s effigies on fire as a protest against Pathaan. They also demanded a ban on the movie. They alleged that the Hindi community is offended by the content of the song.
On the other side, the makers of Pathaan are yet to respond to these controversies. The film is slated for a worldwide release on January 25, 2023.
