After having started the ongoing women’s World Cup as one of the title favourites, India stuttered big time in the recent matches. India lost three consecutive games to Australia, South Africa, and England, which put them in a tough position.
However, India was absolutely emphatic with bat and ball in the game against New Zealand yesterday. The entire team came together to put up a comprehensive performance and win the game by a comfortable margin.
After being put to 1st India, got to 340 runs in 49 overs and set a massive target to New Zealand. In pursuit of this massive target, New Zealand got curtailed further due to rain. In the end, India won the game by margin of 57 runs and sealed a spot in the knockout stages.
India have qualified for the next league of knockouts and will take on the number 1 ranked side. India could possibly facing either Australia or South Africa in the knockout game and this is going to be a tough task as both these teams had beaten the women in blue in the league stages.
The finale is going to be held on November 2 and it has to be seen if India would actually be able to lift the World Cup from this point.
