The Story Behind Legal Notice To Megastar’s ‘Godfather’

Well, it is music director Thaman who has suggested the title “Godfather” for the remake of Lucifer featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead. And the producers acquired the title immediately from director Sampath Nandi who registered that title earlier. But then, Hollywood production house Paramount Pictures is said to have sent a legal notice to this Megastar’s producers as that company has trademarked the title “Godfather” in India as well.

Talking about the same, producer NV Prasad revealed that they have worked really hard with the legal teams to retain the title “Godfather” with lots of alterations. As the legal issue will not easily get settled down, they have reached a compromise, by altering the title in various regions. While they have retained just ‘Godfather’ in Telugu, in Hindi they called it ‘Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Godfather’, and in the American release of the film (in all languages) will have the title “#Megastar153 Godfather” as the title of the movie.

“Right a month before the release date, we have faced all these issues and it is really tough to go to Delhi all the way and deal with these trademark issues. But still, for the love we have towards Megastar Chiru we will go to any extent” he said. Later he joked, “Thaman will easily suggest a title but it takes huge time and effort for us to get the same”.
