The newly appointed Hyderabad city Commissioner of Police, Srinivas Reddy has started his tenure on a fierce note as he cracked down on the Telugu film industry while referring to drug usage in the city.
“It has come to our notice that the film industry has the highest drug usage. Many cases were filed in the past, but certain film people are continuing to use drugs. We are warning them of the consequences if they don’t come out of it. Hyderabad should be a clean and drug-free city and we will go to any extent to make it happen. Once the film industry stops drug culture, the demand will go down. With no demand, there will be no inflow of drugs. There will be measures to ensure this” the new CP said.
The police boss suggested senior film personalities hold meetings amongst themselves and work on restricting the usage of the drugs. He said the police will also hold counselling sessions first with film people and if that doesn’t work out, there will be severe action against everyone involved.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is also particular about Hyderabad being a drug-free city. Hyderabad police are now bringing together rapid action teams to carry out quick drug busts across the city. The new CP vowed to crack down on the drug culture and eradicate it completely.
