For the past few weeks, the Congress party has been reeling under financial distress as the bank accounts belonging to the party are allegedly frozen. The party’s top leadership led by Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjuna Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi addressed the media on this topic and they fired at the central authorities for freezing their bank accounts.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the bank accounts of Congress are being selectively targeted by the central authorities before the Lok Sabha election.
‘We are unable to fund even our party’s election campaign due to the frozen accounts. Let alone flight tickets, we are not even able to buy train tickets for our leaders to run our election campaign.” Rahul said.
It is further alleged that the Congress party is not even in the position to pay for the advertising expenses for their Lok Sabha campaign. ‘A party that has 20% vote bank in India is not even able to transact 2 rupees and that too during the election campaign.’
Freezing the main bank accounts of the opposition party to this extent had never happened before and Congress is fuming at the NDA government for oppressing their constitutional and democratic rights.
