Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is one of the very few administrators who values bureaucracy and officials above all else. He has the reputation of siding heavily with bureaucrats and top officials to deliver effective governance. However, at times, Chandrababu tends to value bureaucracy even more than his own party’s structural leadership.
In one such incident that happened very recently, Babu ended up preferring officials over TDP’s trusted intellectual, GV Reddy.
To elaborate, GV Reddy, who is currently posted as the chairman of the AP Fibernet Department, which is one of the most poached departments under the YCP tenure, made a strong statement recently.
Reddy pointed out that Fibernet’s former MD, Dinesh Kumar, committed insubordination by intentionally delaying orders issued by higher authorities of the Fibernet department. He stated that Dinesh Kumar deliberately delayed termination orders that were aimed at non-functioning employees.
With the Fibernet chairman himself making such strong remarks against the MD, the situation escalated quickly, and the issue reached the chief minister yesterday. Subsequently, there was anticipation regarding what action CM Babu would take against government official Dinesh Kumar following the complaint from the Fibernet chairman himself.
However, once again, Chandrababu showed his leniency towards bureaucracy as he tried to pacify GV Reddy over this operational issue, rather than reprimanding the concerned officer. He instructed GV Reddy to coordinate with Minister BC Janardhan Reddy on this matter and work accordingly.
While it was expected that Babu might reprimand the official at fault, that didn’t happen. Instead, he ended up pacifying GV Reddy. He praised Reddy’s efforts for the party and called for continuous support. And once again, the same old soft rhetoric from Chandrababu was in action, as he didn’t want to upset a government official, regardless of the situation.
